Neighborways Public Meeting and Pilot Opening Celebration

Come celebrate our opening Gardenwalk Neighborway!

A quick overview: Neighborways are a grassroots effort to address street safety and connectivity which grew out of Common Good Missoula’s listening sessions and organizing efforts over the past two years.

Common Good leaders have been working hard on this project for nearly two years - reading every transportation policy in Missoula, imagining and designing a pilot, biking and walking the route, uncovering data, analyzing power, working with city staff to implement the pilot, working with elected officials to make it a political reality and organizing people throughout our membership organizations through movies, presentations, meetings, and conversations and much more.

It's time to CELEBRATE!....And to apply the grassroots pressure!

Building on the City’s existing network of neighborhood greenways, Neighborways would reallocate a portion of existing street pavement and add barriers and striping, providing a safe, connected corridor across the city exclusively designated for pedestrians, cyclists, and wheelchair users.

A pilot Neighborways route this spring is in development, but to expand the pilot in a meaningful way and demonstrate the full potential benefits Neighborways can provide, the City needs to see widespread support. That’s where you come in!

Gardenwalk Neighborways Needs Your Support!

After hearing our proposal for a Gardenwalk Neighborway across town as a pilot and multiple commitments from the city staff and elected officials, they are facing difficulty with implementation and need to hear from us!

The celebration of the beginning of the pilot route and Common Good Delegates Assembly will double as a public meeting for the project and we need you there.

Our work is 80% relational organizing and 20% mobilizing. This is the time to show up!

6pm-7pm on Thursday, June 13th, Montana Rail Link Park

There will be snack foods (feel free to bring some to share if you want) and NA drinks. We will have a Common Good Assembly beginning at 6 pm with a presentation from the city staff followed by a presentation from the Common Good leaders. Then there will be public comment which will begin with Common Good Roll Call of Organizations in Support We are reaching out to some of you to provide comments - if you would like to speak for 1 to 2 minutes in support of this project, please reply to this email to let me know and to reserve your spot. Then we will close the assembly.

We will have colored paddles for you to raise to show your agreement with the comments and want to bring lots of energy to this meeting. If you can only volunteer one hour a year for Common Good, make this that hour.

Everyone can participate and support this work that has come from our grassroots. Maybe it is showing up and waving your paddle with your friends and organizational members. Maybe it is providing 1-2 minutes of comment. Maybe it is some ground work the next week. Let us know!

Bring your pow-wow chairs, lawn chairs, lawn blankets, wagons, and bicycles.

We want to make sure we have enough for all, so PLEASE RSVP in addition to sharing with your core team leader that you will be there. Each member organization is invited to sit together as delegates and consider wearing their matching shirts or work wear.

We must arrive in solidarity with our fellow leaders who've been working so hard all year on this project.

If you are interested in joining the group of folks bicycling to this meeting together, please reply to this email and I will connect you.

Thanks for all you do for your community- we are looking forward to seeing you at this assembly on June 13th at 6pm at Montana Rail Link Park.
