Organizing for Living Systems Resilience
Fridays, Nov 7 & Nov 14
Payne Native American Center | University of Montana Campus
Hosted by Common Good Montana & University of Montana Environmental Studies (EVST)
Why This Training Matters
We are living in a time of converging crises — the unraveling of political stability, the accelerating collapse of Earth’s climate systems, and the disruptive rise of artificial intelligence reshaping economies, governance, and even our sense of truth. This meta-crisis is more than a moment of danger; it’s a turning point for our species. Across history, moments like this have sparked revolutions in how humans relate, organize, and rebuild.
In this training, we’ll explore how to meet the turbulence of our time not with despair, but with skill, courage, and connection. You’ll learn how relational organizing — the practice of building power through relationships — can help communities navigate these intersecting storms and shape a future rooted in democracy, equity, and care for all living systems.
What We’ll Explore
🌎 Systems Thinking for Survival
Understand how ecological, political, and technological systems are interlinked — and why community-level action is essential to long-term resilience.
🤝 Relational Collaboration
Practice bridging settler and Indigenous approaches to power, stewardship, and governance to build trust and capacity across difference.
🗳 Organizing for Democracy
Develop practical skills for collective leadership, shared action, and creative resistance in an era of disinformation and institutional breakdown.
Who Should Attend
This training is open to students, faculty, and community members who want to act boldly and thoughtfully in this age of transformation. Whether you’re new to organizing or a seasoned community leader, you’ll leave with tools, frameworks, and relationships to help your work thrive amid uncertainty.
